Life Motto: “I listen to a lot of Oprahs. She’s been talking about being present and being at peace with yourself and with your decisions. So, accepting everything that’s happening and being present with people. Being a relatable person, that’s important. Just understanding and being happy.”
What is your definition of the grey area?
- “The grey area is a battle between the chances you are willing to take. Do you want to be safe or do you want to reach for the stars? You know that if you take the safe route you aren’t going to fall. I think that’s the grey area.”
Can you talk to me about your emotions/struggles in this area?
- “In the grey area you definitely feel like you aren’t being challenge, you feel stuck. You feel depressed, sad, self-pity… all the things. It sucks cause when I was in the grey area I felt like a lot of people I was around were in the grey area too, and so we were all just an abundance of unhappiness . We were so unhappy and we could not control our temper. I was like, ‘oh my God I need to get away from that energy’. That energy is so terrible and it is contagious. Super contagious. None of us were doing what we wanted to do.”
When you discontinued school, prior to re-enrolling in school, what were your feelings and thoughts?
- “I finished my first year and I didn’t even plan on getting out. I was sitting on my bed and I said dad ‘I’m going to go into the Navy and he was like okay lets go sign up and thats what happened. I went that same day to sign up. I emailed my advisor and said I wasn’t coming back and I knew I was going into the Navy. I felt good because I was going into the Navy, it wasn’t like I wasn’t doing anything. But I also felt kinda like, should I go back to school, but I also felt like I wasn’t ready for it.”
Is your post-college timeline still the same? If not, what changed?
- “Definitley changed for sure. Bad grades first year, went in to the Navy, got out, and enrolled back into school. Now I have an idea of what I want to do or a at least an idea of what area I want to be in. I have a plan.”
