Hey!…& Welcome
You wake up smiling happily, feeling accomplished. It is the day of your college graduation. Soon you will be surrounded by your friends and family. Celebrating life, Truly living in the moment.
The next day comes and you wake up to a new thought crossing your mind, “What is next?” , and you have no answers.
That is just when things start to look grey. You aren’t smiling anymore. You feel like you are at a standstill. It gets grayer when you start thinking that you are the only one going through this unknown.
But… you aren’t!
Everyone goes through a “grey” area. Not just college graduates.
My upcoming book, Play On, Children explores the grey area of life as it relates to an individual’s academic views and experience. More specifically, it explores challenges of pursuing post-graduation plans while encountering unexpected realities of life. It is founded out of interviews from individuals with college experience, individuals who have attended college but chose not to finish, and college graduates.
Upon post-graduation , I found myself substitute teaching while awaiting my final job offer with my future employer. While in this period, I found myself in the grey area. It was not pretty. I began to interview individuals about the grey area as it relates to their college views to gain some insight. While interviewing individuals, I began to see that I was not alone as they too are trying to figure things out.
This blog features selected Q&A from individuals I have interviewed.
